I checked the code that does graph zooming, and I think the problem is that your browser(s) don't handle Ajax.

As I understand it, Ajax is used to speed up complex operations on a web page without having to contact the server.

I don't use Ajax directly, but the Intraweb code I used to create the web site does.

Ajax is a browser technology that is a few years old, but perhaps your browsers don't handle it well.

If you can't get one of your browsers to behave, I'll give some though to creating an alternate set of pages for Ajax-challenged browsers. :-)

Best regards,

Kevin

Kevin,

Zenwalk 6.0 is up.
Still having same issues with Opera (9.64) - maybe a Java issue or ... Opera sometimes has big problems with images...
Iceweasel 3.0.8 works fine now.
Maybe I should try a different browser than Opera. But its much faster than Iceweasel and so easy...and less boring :-)

Regards
Juergen

Juergen,

Thanks for the compliments. I don't know what could be causing the black graphs - they look fine on the 3 different windoze browsers I have here (Firefox, IE and Safari).

Let me know how Zenwalk works out for you.

Best regards,

Kevin,
good work, nice pages.
I have however still problems with Opera and Iceweasel under Linux - hovering with the mouse doesnot bring up the charts under Opera and Iceweasel shows black boxes...
The Opera problem is likely a java thing...
But I will upgrade to Zenwalk 6.0 soon, with new kernel, new Opera and new Iceweasel - so lets see if that solves the issues.
It looks like the Firefox under OS/2-eCS (mozilla or PM build) is still one of the fastest and less error prone browser around.
Anyway, will be back soon with new stuff.
Regards

I'm already in the process of upgrading my modest herd to the new version. It'll probably be another couple of days before I get all of my herd rolling on OGR-NG though. I still have a couple of machines that need repairs before I can get them crunching away again.

A very good point!

The Cowboy web site shows what clients you are running on each of your cows. If you click the column header on "Client", it will sort all the old ones to the bottom of the list. These are the ones you should replace with new versions. The last 3 digits of the version should be "500" or higher, as of the time of this post.

Most of my older clients are running on computers in California. I live in Washington, about 1200 miles (2000 km) away, so I can't easily get to them to update the software.

Samovar is up and running! Without overclocking, it runs at a cool 31C, unlike its brother system that runs a constant 65C with very similar hardware and loading. The only difference is air versus water cooling cooling on the hotter CPU.

I am very impressed with the Gigabyte Mercury case with integrated water cooling. Even without the plumbing, the case is impressive. Its construction is first rate and the water cooling is a big plus!

Samovar is burning in right now, to insure that all the hardware is OK I will start testing its overclocking capability over the next few weeks and then let it run at its faster speed, whatever that turns out to be.

Stay tuned!

I am slowly replacing my clients with version 500. Thanks for mentioning the new version. It is supposed to be a bit faster on OGR than the previous version.

On a semi-related note - after a little harassment by yours truly, an OS/2 version of the most current DNET client has appeared on the distributed.net pre-release downloads page. I've been working on upgrading all my cows to the -500 version today; so far it appears to be working properly. It's available for both OS/2 and Win32 at this point; but not Linux yet.

If you do install this version, you will notice that the default work precedence is now OGR-P2, then RC5-72.

Give it a shot!

I agree with Jurgen, that we should all push hard on OGR and leave RC5 behind. I think that the RC5 contest will be pulled completely, long before the key could possibly be found.

As much as some of us might want to continue RC5, it would be decades before we see the completion, even with hardware improvements.

The OGR completion goal is reachable in the next couple years, and Team Warped is well ahead of the rest of the pack. If our remaining team members shift from RC5 to OGR, we can maintain our high standing all the way through the end of the OGR challenge.

Don't get me wrong - I will continue to support Team Warped members that wish to work mostly on RC5, and the new Cowboy server I am designing retains all the familiar RC5 stats. I don't want to chase off any of our members that want to continue working on that challenge.

Please note that the end of the RC5-72 contest is nearer than you think, and the outcome will likely NOT be the location of the key. I suspect the RC5-72 contest will end with a whimper, and not a bang.

I hope to have the new Cowboy server up and running by 4th quarter, 2007. The new server addresses some reliability and system loading issues.

A little known statistic - Cowboy has processed nearly 68,000 log emails in the last 90 days!

Keep them coming guys!
